The pressures are real; money is limited, volunteer boards are dynamic and often risk adverse, and global events of the last five years can easily overwhelm. The result? Association leaders are often pressured into “short-term” thinking – just looking ahead to the next year or two to see what happens next. Let’s call this “short-termism.”
At the VMAE Fall Conference, we’ll work to break free from this cycle and explore how associations of all sizes can shift their focus from short-term thinking to a long-term, visionary mindset. This shift isn’t just refreshing—it’s essential for motivating, engaging, and empowering your organization.
We’ll begin by tackling the challenge of reclaiming your association’s 20-year vision. You’ll collaborate with peers to uncover why such a vision might seem daunting, and through dynamic discussions, case studies, and research, you’ll discover that not only is it achievable, but crucial for navigating today’s complex landscape.
Next, we’ll dive into a pragmatic case study on translating that vision into actionable strategies. Known as “The Mirror Strategy,” this approach demonstrates how confronting seemingly insurmountable issues can become a powerful tool for delivering real value to your members—because it’s exactly what they need from you.
Throughout the day, we’ll engage in collaborative learning, drawing insights from research, methodologies, and practical tips from the veterinary association world and beyond.
By the end of the conference, you’ll gain a fresh perspective on your association’s strategic planning and member engagement. You’ll leave equipped with an actionable leadership framework to apply in your organization, helping you prioritize and advance your next steps with confidence.
