This is a reminder that VMAE developed the Journey guide for use by executive directors and elected leaders at veterinary medical associations. We encourage you to use this great resource, meant to inspire pur organizations to undertake the journey and provide the tools you need to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It will support you in becoming a more effective leader, a more visible ally, and a more articulate voice on why advancing DEI is critical to the future of the veterinary profession.

Next, VMAE is collaborating with several other stakeholders to produce a resource designed to advance DEI in veterinary workplaces. In a recent AVMA President’s Column, AVMA President Dr. Jose Arce observed:

Recognizing the impact and value the Journey program already has delivered, the AVMA and VMAE are collaborating to bring certain elements of it more directly into the veterinary practice setting. Recognizing the importance of and serving as advocates for increased diversity, equity, and inclusion will strengthen veterinary teams and enable practices to serve our increasingly diverse clientele more effectively.
