ThinkWORKS Convenes Thought Leaders in Houston

VMAE members headed to Houston for VMAE | ThinkWORKS 2018, convening on Thursday evening, April 12 to probe the topic of “Diversity & Inclusion: A Roadmap for Success in Organized Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Profession.”  The workshop was designed to help participants understand how to foster inclusive cultures where uniqueness of beliefs, backgrounds, talents, capabilities, and ways of living are welcomed and leveraged for learning and for informing better decisions – in veterinary medical associations and in veterinary practice.

Lisa Greenhill, MPA, EdD, Senior Director for Institutional Research and Diversity at the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), was instrumental in developing the workshop in concert with the VMAE ThinkWORKS Subcommittee. In addition to sharing her personal expertise and insight, Dr. Greenhill reached into her network of colleagues to comprise an all-star faculty for the program. VMAE members were joined by several members of AAVMC who are leading diversity and inclusion initiatives at their institutions.

Dr. Greenhill hosts Diversity and Inclusion on Air, a series of online conversations on this topic, and Candace Joy (Washington State VMA) and Ralph Johnson (VMAE) were invited to participate in a conversation about ThinkWORKS that Dr. Greenhill has now posted to the AAVMC website.
